Jaws Shark More Popular than All 2016 US Presidential Candidates

A new poll found all major 2016 US presidential candidates had negative approval ratings in key states Iowa and New Hampshire… except Bernie Sanders.

Candidate favorable/unfavorable ratings among registered voters in Iowa:

  • Bernie Sanders: 30%/-27% (+3)
  • Rubio: 31%/-32% (-1)
  • Scott Walker: 30%/-31% (-1)
  • Jeb Bush: 34%/-46% (-12)
  • Hillary Clinton: 37%/-56% (-19)
  • Donald Trump: 32%/-60% (-28)

Candidate favorable/unfavorable ratings among registered voters in New Hampshire:

  • Sanders: 41%/-29% (+12)
  • Bush: 40%/-45% (-5)
  • Walker: 28%/-34% (-6)
  • Rubio 28%/-34% (-6)
  • Clinton: 37%/-57% (-20)
  • Trump -27%/-67% (-40)

The shark from the 1975 canonical thriller film Jaws is more popular than every 2016 US presidential candidate.

Independent democratic socialist candidate Bernie Sanders is the only presidential hopeful with a positive approval rating.

Fictional villains Terminator and Darth Vader also have better approval ratings than the candidates. Voldemort, the mortal enemy in the Harry Potter series, is favored over GOP presidential hopefuls Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Rick Santorum, Chris Christie, and Donald Trump, respectively.

The figures are based on a poll conducted by The Washington Post, published on 3 June.
